Nonpartisan Progressive Listening Tour

Four different locations in Franklin County
-- the northeast area forum [including Gahanna] is March 14 from 6-7:30 p.m. in New Albany
New Albany Branch Library, 200 Market St
New Albany, OH

The Coalition of Democratic and Progressive Organizations of Central Ohio is sponsoring four listening tours focusing on topics that impact progressive and liberal activists. Those concerned about the current political climate in Central Ohio are invited to attend one of four forums in March to discuss previous organizing experiences with the goal of learning from missed opportunities and applying the institutional knowledge to ...the 2011 and 2012 elections.

Those interested may attend any of the four forum dates that are most convenient for them:

Appreciation Reception has been CANCELLED

Due to this evening's weather, our Apprecitation Reception event has been CANCELLED. Please feel forward this notice to anyone who may not be on our email list and may had been planning to attend.

We regret any inconveniences and hope we can host this event in the not so distant future!

An Open Letter to my Community in which I live, work, and play

The heinous event in Arizona yesterday is re-opening wounds in our society that were never really closed. Whatever your religious or spiritual persuasions may be, now is the time to pray, meditate, or pause for silent contemplation.

Mainstream America is suffering right now. Suffering because we need answers to this horrible tragedy. Know why? Because WE are wounded. Fellow mainstream Americans died without provocation or cause. Very good people died; very good people were wounded, some seriously. The government ‘of the People’ and ‘by the People’ reached out to some of its constituents to engage in discourse. They were viciously attacked and now we want justice.

Join Us for an Appreciation Reception for State Representative Nancy Garland and Marian Harris

We are delighted to invite everyone to an "Appreciation Reception" for both State Representative Nancy Garland (OH-20) and former State Representative Marian Harris (OH-19). We all appreciate their hard work and dedication to represent the People of Ohio in both of their districts. Please come!! Attendance is free and your chance to meet one on one and discuss the issues surrounding our Great State of Ohio.

January 20th, 7:30pm, Gahanna Sanctuary, 82 N. High Street, Gahanna, Ohio (see map here: http://goo.gl/maps/w3Jo)

Contact Sharon Montgomery smontgo3@yahoo.com if you would like to volunteer to help with this event!

GP hiatus

For the foreseeable future meetings of Gahanna Progressives will be on hiatus.

Our meetings over the past year have been sparsely attended despite efforts to provide interesting topics and speakers. Progressive minded folks are some of the busiest folks around with too many things to do in too few hours. Finding time for another gathering is hard.

The website, gahannaprogressives.org, will continue to be a source for information. Occasional newsletters will be sent from the website. Sign up on the website to get newsletters.

We are still volunteering to clean a part of Hamilton Rd for SWACO (Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio). That is done a few times a year during warm weather months. It takes about an hour on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Watch for email newsletters to volunteer for that activity next year.
